Durham Hosts Comprehensive Plan Update Open Houses

Residents Invited to Provide Input on Proposed Changes

When:             Session #1: Thursday, November 3, 2011, from 4:30 p.m.
to 7 p.m.

Where:            Durham Technical Community College, North Durham
Campus, 2401 Snow Hill Rd.

 

When:             Session #2: Thursday, November 10, 2011, from 4:30
p.m. to 7 p.m.

Where:            Durham Station Transportation Center, 515 W. Pettigrew
St.

 

When:             Session #3: Thursday, November 17, 2011, from 4:30
p.m. to 7 p.m.

Where:            Durham County South Regional Library, 4505 S. Alston
Ave.

 

Fast Facts:

*         The Durham City-County Planning Department is updating the
Durham Comprehensive Plan, adopted by the Board of County Commissioners
and the City Council in 2005. The Durham Comprehensive Plan is the
County's and City's statement about how the community should grow and
develop. The plan deals with physical aspects of the community's growth
and development and also guides how the City and County provide public
facilities and regulate new development.

 

*         These three sessions will be an opportunity for the public to
provide input on proposed changes to the Durham Comprehensive Plan. It
will also be an opportunity to learn more about the Durham Comprehensive
Plan, the update process and schedule, and meet with staff.

About the Durham City-County Planning Department

The Durham City-County Planning Department is involved in many aspects
of community growth, including reviewing development plans and
protecting Durham's natural and cultural resources. Planners meet
regularly with citizen groups to discuss specific issues and to talk
generally about Durham's future. The department is charged with
implementing Durham's Comprehensive Plan and Unified Development
