Subject: [Durham INC] DPS school/magnet assignment community input sessions

Hello INC members,

Here is some additional information as follow-up to our presentation at last night's INC meeting from Donna Hudson

from Durham Public Schools about the proposed changes to the school assignment plans and magnet school assignment policy

The Durham Public School Board of Education is considering changes to school assignment plans and magnet school assignment policy.

There are changes being considered that will likely be of interest to many Durham residents. The school board plans to make a decision

on adopting all or parts of this proposal by December 15. The changes under consideration can be viewed at the following website.

http://www.dpsnc.net/about-dps/departments/student-assignment/magnet-student-assignment-proposal

The school board is having three meetings to receive community input on this proposal:

- Thursday, December 1 at Riverside High, 6:30 p.m.

- Monday, December 5 at Jordan High, 6:30 p.m.

- Thursday, December 8 at Southern High, 6:30 p.m.

Please forward this announcement to your neighborhood listserves so that your neighbors are aware of these proposed changes and

can participate in the public comment sessions.

Thanks.

Scott Carter

INC Vice Chairman
