Durham Hosts Youth Summit Tomorrow

 

What:              2012 Durham Youth Summit for Teens and Parents

 

Who:               City of Durham Office of Economic and Workforce
Development, Durham Workforce Development Board Youth Council, Durham
Parks and Recreation, Durham County Government, Durham JobLink Career
Center, Youth Employed and Succeeding (YES), and the Durham Youth
Commission

 

When:             Wednesday, April 11, 2012, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

 

Where:            Walltown Recreation Center

1308 W. Club Blvd.

Durham, N.C. 27705

 

Fast Facts:

*         This is a free opportunity for youth between the ages of 14 to
21 and their parents to connect to various community programs in Durham
and get better prepared for the world of work.

 

*         In addition to learning about youth-tailored programs in
Durham, teens and their parents will have an opportunity to participate
in four workshops focusing on non-traditional occupations, financial
literacy, employability skills, and social entrepreneurship.

 

*         Participants will also be asked to provide input on how
existing youth programs are meeting their needs and how these programs
can be improved to encourage them to take advantage of the programs and
become positively engaged in the community.
