Dick, you have driven me to actually review the first quarter campaign
donations for the the Durham Partnership for Progress Super PAC and for
the candidate Wendy Jacobs whom you single out. Fun reading. What I see
leads me to very different conclusions.
The Durham Partnership for Progress has received $51,000 from a single
donor, Southern Durham Development.
Meanwhile, Wendy raised less than half as much from around 180 people and a
few organizations. Most of these donations were in the $15 - $100 range.
Yes, there are about 30 donations listed from out of state - the largest
of which is from one Barbara Jacobs. Yup, sounds like family and friends
to me.
So what I see is one business spending a lot of money for the sole purpose
of electing a commission which will vote to support their
one controversial development project.
In contrast we have an candidate who seems to have a heck of a lot of
people who believe that she will make an outstanding county commissioner.
Count me among them.
