[Durham INC] An apology

I think there is a much deeper issue at the heart of all of this, and that is in how the Amendment has divided our state. People on both side of this issue are passionate about how they feel. On the one side are those challenged by the way the Bible informs thoughts related to what it means to be community. On the other side are those hurting due tho the grave implications connected to the potential passage of the Amendment. It all leaves me hurting and angry that voters are pressed into having to vote on this matter. The good news, at the end of the day, is that people in Durham are doing their best to be a loving caring community. Much love to all. I pray this thing doesn't pass, but, if it does, my hope is that Durham voters prove we're not having it over here.

I
certainly accept your apology, Joy. I know you and Darius both to be good
people, and few of us subscribed to this listserv don't
understand passion.
But don't
forget to sign your posts, especially when making apologies. I always post
expecting this is a tough crowd to offend when offering candid feelings. It
makes reversing your position much easier, since we've all done it. Welcome to
the club.

After
giving my exchange some thought, I think I should apologize for
the
harshness of my emails. I was responding to the frustration I
feel
for even those who support homosexuality and community leaders
such as
Darius basically thinking it that those who happen to be gay
are evil in
God's eyes. To me it is like a white person supporting
civil rights
even though they think God hates blacks.
I do think I made a point
about posts being more thoughtful and not
assuming that people will accept
a controversial view such as this
just because many happen to believe the
same way. However in
hindsight I was too harsh in my tone and for
that I apologize. I hope
my emails did however impart my desire to create
more tolerance in
some small way for gay rights.
Sorry if anyone
(especially Darius) was offended by my anger on this issue.

lynchings" (for us who studied AP US History, we learned at these events
blacks were hung for sport). After church.....
