Public Information Session on Third Fork Creek Improvement Plan

May 24 Meeting to Highlight High-Priority Restoration Projects

DURHAM, N.C. - Durham residents interested in the health of Third Fork
Creek will get a chance to hear results from the plan to improve the
watershed's health during a public information meeting later this month.

The meeting will be held at the Southwest Regional Library, 3605 Shannon
Road, at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 24, 2012. The purpose of the meeting is
to identify the high-priority areas that have been selected for
watershed restoration projects.

According to Sandi Wilbur, project manager with the Stormwater Services
Division of the City's Public Works Department, the areas were selected
by studying field conditions and analyzing opportunities with watershed
modeling tools. "The improvement plan sets a course for improving water
quality in Third Fork Creek and complying with state regulations,"
Wilbur said.

In addition to hearing about the plan, residents are invited to
participate in an interactive session during the meeting to learn more
about watershed restoration and provide input to City staff.
