[Durham INC] New from the Rev-elution

Carl you are making some fair points - and I am seriously attempting to evaluate this objectively (though I am a committed, Foster supporter).

I'd like for you to please elaborate on why Daniels (your choice) is a better choice than Hyman (Wagstaff and Co choice that they're lobbying for).

I am not seeking for you to belittle Hyman, I am seriously wondering what attributes Daniels may have, which Hyman does not (as Ms. Wagstaff and her crew tout the same points for Hyman -countless years of county service- as means for Hyman being the better choice).

I believe in divulging any conflicts of interest, so let me go ahead and state:

1. I interviewed both candidates in both the Durham Committee on the Affairs of Black People, and the Durham People's Alliance and was not impressed with either of them;

(1a) Daniels came across as extremely arrogant (not the best characteristic for a public servant), did not seem to have a history of coalition building and no platform. I met her at the South Regional poll and she was rather friendly, but was back to normal (short and stand-off'ish) post election.

I noticed that as myself, you're a Mike Woodard fan. Mike is a prime example of how an elected official at the City/County level should deal with citizens. He, Schewel and Catotti always respond, typically within minutes of me contacting either of them. Cora has gotten better; she'll get with me within a couple of days. The Mayor has responded to 1 email (I've sent him, perhaps, 7). However, he has let me and all citizens know if you call him, he'll respond quicker. He responds to calls within a couple hrs. All effective. Daniels scares me in that regard.

(2a) Hyman came across as being extremely hostile. I worked a poll with her husband (where I was a VOLUNTEER for the Durham Committee) and he was the nicest guy ever, but she seemed a bit abrasive, snappy and quick to wrath. I feared the thought of her in office due to her close association with certain individuals (whom I felt were extremely, racially divisive, plants seeds of division into those who are around them and simply put: problematic - some referenced above). She seemed not to have an understanding of the lay of the land and was quick to make assumptions and act on them. We all have assumptions, but a prudent individual should seek discovery prior to acting. She'd hear a lie and immediately act on it. I don't want a hostile individual in office and will vote for someone I don't like, before seeing our County Commissioner board, or City Council, as the School Board meetings from a few years ago....

Please advise. And thanks for your willingness to share an opinion, with substance.

You may change my opinion. :)

Thanks,

Darius
