DURHAM, N.C. - DTV8's "City Hall This Week" will debut a new show
tonight at 8 p.m. Hosted by Senior Public Affairs Specialist Amy
Blalock, this show will feature the following highlights and other
topics of interest. You can also watch this new episode on demand at

City Administration Unveils $372.7 Million Proposed Budget

The City Council is now considering whether to approve the
Administration's $372.7 million proposed 2012-2013 budget. The proposed
spending plan includes a property tax increase of one cent per $100 of
assessed property value - an increase that would raise the annual taxes
for the owner of a $150,000 home by $15. City Manager Tom Bonfield
explains why the increase is needed and other details of his proposed
spending plan in this episode of "City Hall This Week."

City Moves Forward With Repaving Projects Despite Potential Roadblocks

The City is expecting to meet its 2012 repaving goals, despite a couple
of roadblocks that are driving up costs. Due to streets being in far
worse condition than anticipated and increased costs for petroleum-based
products, the price of repaving the streets is higher than initially
expected. Public Works Department Engineering and Stormwater Manager Ed
Venable explains how the City is meeting these challenges in this
episode of "City Hall This Week."

New Foundation Expected to Improve Chances of Survival for Cardiac
Arrest Patients

Plans are now in the works for the City to establish an Emergency
Medical Services Foundation in Durham. The foundation's goals will be
to improve the chances of survival for cardiac arrest patients in
several ways. Durham Fire Department Emergency Medical Services
Coordinator Captain David Jacobs explains how it hopes to do that in
this episode of "City Hall This Week."

Residents Becoming More Satisfied With Perceptions of Safety in Durham

More encouraging news stemming from the 2011 Resident Satisfaction
Survey. The survey shows that residents are becoming increasingly
satisfied with issues surrounding safety in Durham. The survey shows
that 49 percent of those who responded are satisfied with the overall
feeling of safety in the city, which is a slight increase from 2009 and
a dramatic increase from 2005. Durham Police Department Senior Public
Affairs Specialist Kimberle Walker examines some of the possible reasons
for that increase in satisfaction in this episode of "City Hall This
Week."
