[Durham INC] Excellent Leadership/Free Summer program for our Youth

Hello,

I am the Program Director for a new initiative within an established
non-profit. My initiative is called the Durham Youth Alliance. The Durham
Youth Alliance's goal is to teach youth to lead by example, discover and
practice their passion, learn to be organized, learn to delegate, learn how
to take ownership and responsibility, communicate effectively, learn how to
be brave and honest, become great listeners, understand their surroundings
and become followers*. “I must follow the people. Am I not their leader?”
–Benjamin Disraeli. *The program focuses on developing youth who want to
get involved in the community into our leaders of tomorrow. They will not
only obtain leadership skills, but they will form life-long connections in
the Triangle, leave an impact on the community and meet other motivated and
ambitious teens. The learning process will be completed by having the youth
create, delegate and set up some of this city's most visible events with
the hope of bringing the community together.

I'm reaching out to my fellow members because today is our first meeting!
It will be held at* Durham North Regional Public Library from 2-4pm* in the
conference room. Here we will discuss the logistics and details of the
program; potential members will be able to turn in their applications, if
they have not already done so; we will start planning the first event,
drawing on different ideas and experiences; will we exchange contact
information, and vote on a medium that will be used for communication
within the students, and lastly we will vote on the day, time and locations
of all meetings hence forth.

It's a great opportunity for youth to get involved, and an even better
opportunity for an example of leadership on their college applications.
I've attached brochures and flyers with more information, and I've attached
the application. You are all very welcomed to come to our meeting today,
and learn more information and get your children, or any other youth you
may know who want to get involved in the community to join!
