Durham Business Innovation Through Exporting Panelists Announced

Limited Seating Still Remains for Small Agribusinesses Interested in
Developing Ways to Expand Their Market

 

DURHAM, N.C. - Limited seating still remains for this Thursday's free
panel discussion, entitled "Business Innovation through Exporting,"
which is designed to assist small businesses in developing creative ways
to expand their market with particular emphasis on agribusiness. 

 

The event, scheduled for Thursday, June 28, 2012, from 10 a.m. to noon
in the Council Chambers of City Hall, is sponsored by City of Durham
Office of Economic and Workforce Development's Small Business Advisory
Committee in collaboration with the N.C. Institute of Minority Economic
Development. The panel discussion will also be broadcast live on DTV8
(Time Warner Cable channel 8). 

 

Subjects to be covered during the panel include an overview of North
Carolina exports; competing and succeeding in the global marketplace;
fundamentals of exporting; technical assistance resources; advantages
and disadvantages in exporting; and how agribusinesses should take their
products or services to market.

 

Panelists include International Business Development Counselor Alex Viva
with the Small Business & Technology Development Center; International
Trade Manager John C. Loyack with the International Trade Division of
the N.C. Department of Commerce; Senior International Trade Specialists
Frances Selema and Shirreef Loza with the U.S. Commercial Service
International Trade Administration in the U.S. Department of Commerce;
Registered Broker Jerry Glickman with the US Export-Import Bank and
Credit Insurance Specialty Broker Business Credit Solutions, Inc.;  and
International Marketing Assistant Director Peter Thornton with the N.C.
Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.  

 

The cost to attend the panel discussion is free. However, seating is
limited so interested attendees should reserve their spot no later than
