Just a reminder that it costs us about the same amount to run an election whether 10 people show up to vote, or 10,000 vote. And the candidates have been out there working hard, so they deserve to have as many people as possible come out to make a choice.

All Durham County polling locations on Election Day and early voting at the Board of Elections Office, located at 706 W. Corporation St., Durham, NC, 27701
Facts: A Second Primary for the Democratic and Republican parties will be held in Durham County, NC on Tuesday July 17, 2012, for Durham County registered voters including registered 17 year olds who will be 18 on or before November 6, 2012. All Durham County precincts will be open from 6:30am until 7:30pm. Voters who are registered as Democrats are eligible to vote the Democratic ballot. Voters who are registered as Republicans are eligible to vote the Republican ballot. Voters who are registered with other recognized parties are not eligible to vote in the second primary. Unaffiliated voters, who voted Unaffiliated in the first primary, are not eligible to vote in the second primary. Unaffiliated voters may participate in the Second Primary under the following guidelines:
Unaffiliated voters, who voted Democratic in the first primary, may only vote Democratic in the second primary. Unaffiliated voters, who voted Republican in the first primary, may only vote Republican in the second primary. Unaffiliated voter's party affiliation will remain as Unaffiliated after voting in a partisan event. The following races will be on the ballots:
Democratic Ballot: NC Commissioner of Labor Republican Ballot: NC Lieutenant Governor NC Commissioner of Insurance NC Secretary of State NC Superintendent of Public InstructionVoters who chose to vote early can cast their ballot at the Board of Elections Office beginning June 28. One Stop No Excuse Absentee Voting in Durham will adhere to the following schedule:
June 28-June 29 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. June 30-July 1 Closed July 2-3 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. July 4 Closed July 5-6 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. July 7-8 Closed July 9-13 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. July 14 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. On Election Day, 8 of our usual polling locations will not be available. Citizens should take note of the following precincts that will vote in different polling locations than usual for this election only:
Precinct 5 - WI Patterson Recreation Center voters will vote at Precinct 3- EK Powe School located at 913 Ninth Street Precinct 9 - Forest Hills Club House voters will vote at Precinct 8- Morehead Montessori School located at 909 Cobb Street Precinct 23 - The River Church voters will vote at Holt Middle School located at 4019 Holt School Road Precinct 24 - Durham Public Schools System Development Center voters will vote at Hillandale School located at 2730 Hillandale Road Precinct 30- Hope Valley Baptist Church voters will vote at Precinct 48- Christ the King Moravian Church located at 4405 Hope Valley Road Precinct 46 - Edison Johnson Recreation Center voters will vote at Precinct 1 - Brogden Middle School located at 1101 Leon Street Precinct 47 - Campus Hills Recreation Center voters will vote at Precinct 42 - Shepard Middle School located at 2401 Dakota Street Precinct 55-11- Weaver Street Community Center voters will vote at Precinct 41 - White Rock Baptist Church located at 3400 Fayetteville Road For more information regarding voter registration, polling locations, absentee voting, or other election matters, contact the Durham County Board of Elections Office at 919-560-0700 or visit their website at www.durhamcountync.gov/elec .
