Welch is a prolific writer, whose narrative and characters come to life in relationships that span many historic eras. Fans find her romance novels clustered in series within historical categories including "The Courtesan Chronicles," "Medieval Knights," "Westerns," "Colonial America" and "Roman Britain." Her latest novel, Sorority Sisters, is her first women's fiction novel. Welch generally pens her romances under the name Claudia Dain and will talk about the differences in publishing in these two unique genres.

Welch graduated from the University of Southern California with a BA in English. A two- time Rita finalist, she has won numerous writing awards and honors since her first novel was published in 2000. A Los Angeles native who called Connecticut home for a decade, she currently resides with her family in North Carolina.

This author talk is part of the DCL series, "Guilty Pleasures: A Celebration of Genre Fiction," and is made possible by funding from Durham Library Foundation. A book signing will follow the reading. For more information about the program, contact Jennifer Lohmann at 919-560-8594.
