Durham Hosts Watershed Improvement Plans Information Session

October 23 Meeting to Present Final Results of Plans to Improve Health
of Three Watersheds

DURHAM, N.C. - Durham residents interested in the future health of Third
Fork Creek, Northeast Creek, and Crooked Creek will soon get a chance to
learn more about how the City of Durham plans to improve the health of
these three watersheds using prioritized projects and customized
strategies.

The public information session will be held on Tuesday, October 23,
2012, at 7 p.m.in the City Hall Committee Room, 101 City Hall Plaza.

The purpose of the meeting is to present the results from the draft
watershed improvement plans that were developed for each creek's
watershed and gather input from residents. According to Sandi Wilbur,
project manager with the Stormwater Services Division of the City's
Public Works Department, the plans were developed by studying field
conditions and analyzing opportunities with watershed modeling tools.
"Resident input is an important component in finalizing the improvement
plans, which sets a course for improving water quality in each of the
creeks and complying with state regulations," Wilbur said.
