Please forward the information below to your middle and high school teachers. It is a wonderful opportunity for our kids and for adults as well!

I participated in this poetry contest a few years ago, and the awards ceremony was a wonderful experience. I saw middle school and high school students read their winning poems with pride, and the audience (of local, published writers) were sincerely impressed. The ceremony also included lunch and live music and lots of mingling that was good for me and my daughter, who was 6 at the time! She had a great time too.

Again, I hope you will forward this information to appropriate middle school teachers and to your high school contacts. Perhaps some of the students have already written some poetry (for assignments) that they would consider submitting (free of charge to students -- smile).

Thanks!
Melissa (Rooney)

Dear poet,
As someone who has previously entered the Charles Shull contest
for traditional poetry, for which I serve as category manager and
which is sponsored by the Poetry Council of North Carolina, you may
wish to know that the 2012-2013 contests will close in about 4
weeks, on Thursday, November 29, 2012.
I'm including highlights of the contests below, as well as a
link to a PDF with full information about the contests. (If you
prefer, I can send you the PDF as an e-mail attachment--just reply
to this message and let me know.)
I hope you'll consider submitting again to the Shull category or
    another category--or all of them.
Best regards,
Celisa
