Welcome Baby to Hosts Coat and Diaper Drive
Drive Ends January 18, 2013  Durham, NC- December 6, 2012 - Welcome Baby, a Durham County resource offering parenting information and support to the community, is seeking the help of the Durham community with their upcoming Coat and Diaper Drive, scheduled December 3, 2012, through January 18, 2013. The Welcome Baby Giving Closest has depleted its supply of children's coats and diapers for families in need. Donations of diapers of any size and coats, clean and gently worn, from newborn to size 8, are welcomed. 
 
"The need for children's coats and diapers is urgent as we approach the coldest months of the winter season," said Melva Henry, coordinator for the Welcome Baby Program. 
 
The donated items will be distributed to Durham County families in need through Welcome Baby's Giving Closet. The Giving Closet provides Durham families a place to shop, at no cost, for clothes, diapers and baby equipment for their children 5 years and under. The Giving Closetserves close to 800 families each year. 
 
Donors can drop off coats and diapers at the collection box near the front desk at each of the following locations:
 
o   Durham County Cooperative Extension: 712 Foster Street
o   Durham County Main Library: 300 N. Roxboro Street
o   Durham County Department of Public Health: 414 E. Main Street

Welcome Baby, a program of Durham County Cooperative Extension, serves close to 10,000 families a year, through parenting classes, car seat workshops, Cribs for Kids, developmental newsletters and through the Giving Closet. Services are open to all Durham County and City residents.
