Durham Closes Portion of West Corporation Street for Stormwater Drain
Repair

Closure in Effect from February 18 - March 18; Traffic Detour Provided

DURHAM, N.C. - Beginning today, the City of Durham's Public Works
Department is closing a portion of West Corporation Street to perform an
emergency storm drain replacement and pavement repair due to a sinkhole
that appeared last week.

West Corporation Street between Morris Street and Fuller Street will be
closed until March 18 as well as the entrance to Liggett Street from
West Corporation Street. A traffic detour is in place along with street
closure signs to notify motorists. Parts of the sidewalk along these
streets will also be closed during construction and signage will be in
place to notify pedestrians.

The sinkhole was caused due to the collapse of an aging storm pipe under
West Corporation Street that subsequently caused a water line break and
pavement failure. For additional information regarding this repair
project, contact Sujit Ekka, civil engineer with the Stormwater and GIS
Services Division in the City's Public Works Department, at (919)
560-4326, ext. 30271 or by email at Sujit.Ekka at DurhamNC.gov.
