The Durham Police Department is asking for public feedback as part of
its accreditation process. The department is scheduled for an on-site
assessment as part of the process to verify it meets professional
standards. The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies
requires agencies to comply with standards in four basic areas. Those
are policy and procedures, administration, operations, and support
services. As part of the on-site assessment, a public information
session will be held on Monday, June 10 at 6:30 p.m. in City Council
Chambers at City Hall. Telephone comments will also be accepted by the
assessment team by calling (919) 560-4594 on Monday, June 10 from 1 p.m.
to 3 p.m.

Summer Solid Waste Collection Schedule to Begin June 3

The City's summer solid waste collection schedule will begin on June 3
and go through October 4. To help employees avoid the risk of
heat-related illness and injury, solid waste, yard waste, recycling and
bulky items will be collected earlier each day. Residents are asked to
place their carts and bulky items on the curb the night before their
normal pick-up day since crews will start collection at 6 a.m. instead
of 7 a.m.

Durham Recognized as 2013 Playful City USA Community
