Durham Re-opens Third Fork Creek Trail

DURHAM, N.C. - Third Fork Creek Trail is now re-opened to the public, following construction work to stabilize the stream bank and adjacent trail.

The trail was closed in July between Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway and Cardinal Drive, due to damage from heavy rains and the movement of the creek channel. Though the trail is located in a flood plain area and was purposely designed to flood on occasion, a potentially dangerous situation required an immediate repair.

Additional work on the trail corridor is likely to be scheduled for next year, once required permits and funding have been secured.
