Hi all,

 

For over six years, Durham community groups and individuals have made it possible for young people to vote on the same candidate and issues as adults each year.   Former participants  know how rewarding and fun it can be to help Durham's young people make their voices heard.   Durham's youth need you again as they go to the polls on November 5 and in early voting to voice their choice for Mayor and City Council.  Here's how you can help:

 

·          Run an election site at a Durham Precinct on Election Day, November 5.  Schools are in session for this municipal election, so all you have to do is set up your site the night before and then have volunteers staff the polls after school from 4 pm-7:30 pm for young people who come in with their parents.

·         Run an Early Voting Site on October 19, 25 or Nov. 2 from 10 am - 1 pm at the Durham Main Library.  Early voting not only gets young people involved, but reminds their parents of the important upcoming Election.

 

Please let me know if you can take part, and please forward to other groups or individuals who might be interested.  When other students or youth groups run sites, it makes it that much more engaging for young voters!

 

A complete list of Kids Voting Durham Election activities can be found at www.kidsvotingdurham.org.  We especially hope to see many students and youth groups at the Youth Candidate Forum at Holton Center Thursday, October 17 from 6:30-8:30 pm.   All candidates will be attending because they want to hear from Durham's young people.

 

If you have a school aged child or grandchild, please encourage their school to have all students vote in school.  Voting sign up for schools and other information is also available at the Kids Voting Durham website.
