Project Homeless Connect Serves People in Durham
More than 150 people in Durham who are experiencing, or are at risk of experiencing, homelessness are now one step closer to having at least some of their needs met. This year's Project Homeless Connect was held on October 3, 2013 at the Durham Armory. The services provided included housing, employment, health and dental care, legal services, and much more. Matthew Schnars, project manager in the City's Community Development Department, explains why many more people needed to be served through this year's event.

City employees have renewed their commitment to good customer service. National Customer Service Week was held October 7-11. It offered City employees a chance to hone their customer service skills, as well as prove how committed they are to providing good service to Durham residents. Durham One Call Supervisor Mona Moore explains the challenge that was issued to employees throughout the week and how that challenge was answered.

City Recognized for Use of Technology to Connect With Residents
The City of Durham is once again being recognized for its use of technology to connect with residents. The Public Technology Institute has designated the City as one of 13 Citizen-Engaged Communities from throughout the country for 2013-2015. This is the second time the institute has selected Durham for this designation. The program recognizes excellence in the use of technology to keep residents informed on the actions of, as well as interacting with, City government.
