> Today, Saturday, there is a duke home football game at 12:30 which means that Duke University Rd will be closed from 9:30 until 5, except for big contributors to Duke - the Iron Dukes. There will be trouble driving in general near the campus since there will be one lane of traffic being closed on Academy Rd/751/Cameron Blvd across from the Washington Duke. I am not familiar with Erwin Rd. The bottom line is that it will take longer to get to and through certain places in Durham. It may be best course of action to stay away from Duke West campus altogether. Some restaurants will be more full due to football goers.

> I am providing you with the football schedules so that you can try to plan your driving schedules around the traffic caused by the universities games. I am also giving you a heads up since Duke rarely shown it neighbors courtesy by informing its neighbors of the games. I am telling about the games so that you can have advanced warning of the noise.
>
> I have repeatedly requested from lots of staff people, administrators and both Duke and Durham Police Departments (see the names included on this email) that the university email the neighborhoods that border the campuses, and are even neighborhoods at a greater distance away, about the games and the concerts. I have informed the university that the PA system's volume is quite loud at games as well as at live concerts on the quad and have asked that the volume be decreased and that Duke follow Durham's noise ordinance. I cannot tell that anything that I and others have said has made much of if any difference. I find the noise to be especially bothersome during the night. I have told them that the noise is negatively disturbs my quality of life. At a minimum I would like 48 hours notice of games and concerts. I am especially concerned about fellow neighbors who feel negatively impacted. I understand that there may be some applause.

> Few's Ford Section (all the way out at the end of Cole Mill Rd)
> 1. Cox Mtn have to cross swinging bridge across the Eno River, go straight ahead and the trial will curve and this side trail will be off to your left. There is a steep straight up climb a hill with great view of hill other side of the Eno River which makes it good for fall color. I have suggested to people that this is the most rigorous trial I know of that can be used as a preparation for if/when you are walking or hiking in the mountains. The trial goes through the woods and only has a short distance next to Eno River 3.7 miles (circular only)
> 2. Buckquarter Creek trail (over past few years dirt has been added around tree roots so trail is perfectly flat. The trail has a section that follows the river where you can see a number of rapids. There is a set of steps to go up and over rock out cropping. These rapids are the highest class rapids. The trail is circular and when you walk it as a circular trial the length is 1.5 but I like to take the trial both ways along the river. This trail is laid out like the number 8 (2 circular trails) because it connects like to the Holden's Mill trail.
> 3. Holden 's Mill trail (2.6 miles) I do not like as well because of scenery and since there is a small rock outcropping which I sometimes do not feel like crossing over at which point I just turn around.
>
> Old Pump Station (off Cole Mill Rd and turn right before stop light at the church) The original trial is 1.5 miles is easy (circular). The trail follows the river a short distance. A highlight of the walk is the ruins of Durham's pump station that dates to 1800s. The trail has been extended so can take trail all the way to Guess Rd. This section of the trail is called Laurel Bluff and alone is 2.5 miles. (I normally do the section of the trails that is closest to Pump Station. If you are going to do the trail to Guess Rd I suggest parking a car at Guess Rd so you can do a car shuttle. In addition the Old Pump Station trail was recently extended opposite direction, and is part of Mountains to Sea trail. This section of the trail has numbers of small hills.
>
> Cole Mill Rd Access section (turn left off Sparger Rd at Umpstead (light) than turn right onto Howe or you may access the trail from Hillsborough Rd. Howe is closer to Hillsborough Rd.
> 1. Bobbitt Hole (1.6 miles) is circular but I again like to take the trail both ways along river. During the spring, I believe it is during the month of May, the Mountain Laurels flower in a small area on the hillside across river. At the end of a trail is a relatively substantial rapids. You can swim at Bobbitt's Hole although few people do and it is discouraged. There isn't a lifeguard so that you swim at your own risk.
> 2. Dunnagan's 1.8 miles is circular and part of the trail follows the river. I often take it both ways along river. Dunnagan's Trail connects with the Bobbitt Hole Trail if want a longer trail. (I do each trail at different times.)
> 3. Pea Creek trail (circular section between Dunnagan's and Bobbitt) 1.3 miles (I like to take it both ways along river. If do you choose to do the trail circular than you will go by an old home site with a tombstone and 2 fields of Daffodils.
>
> Cabe Lands Section
> This hilly trial with lots of roots so be careful not to slip is circular plus there is a forwards and back section or you can leave off circular section that includes the river part and go straight to the quarry. A drawback with this trail is that you hear Hwy 85. To get to the quarry you have to cross rocks in a stream on rocks that wobble and after a rain some, or all, of the rocks can be somewhat submerged. Many people swim in the quarry but you need to be a good swimmer because the sides of the quarry drop directly about 40 Ft. The quarry can become quite boisterous with the sounds of teens and 20 plus year olds. There is not a lifeguard.
