[Durham INC] Volunteer Opportunity: A new playground for Oakwood Park in Cleveland Holloway Neighbhorhood

Please spread the word: Help build a new playground and beautify the eastern entrance to the downtown area.

Durham Parks and Recreation and Keep Durham Beautiful have received a KaBOOM! grant to renovate Oakwood Park in the Cleveland Holloway Street Neighborhood. The project is supported by Disney, ABC 11 and several local businesses. We need 200 volunteers to help bring this park to life! We have two opportunities for you to participate in this transformation.

Prep Day (40 volunteers)
Thursday, October 31 from 8:00 am - 4:00 p.m.
Volunteers will sort and separate all the new playground equipment into build kits; cut lumber and prepare build kits for tables and benches; assist with digging the holes for the support posts and other tasks that prepare for the Build Day.

Build Day (200 volunteers)
Saturday, November 2, 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Volunteers will install the playground, build the benches and tables, install new gardens, and put the safety surfacing in place.  At 3:00 pm we celebrate the completion of the project.

Please join this community effort: you will be fed, you will have fun and the 600 children living within walking distance of Oakwood Park will have a playground!
