We should hold a contest with Chapel Hill and Carrboro about which municipality gets the highest turn-out in the election.  As I understand it, Raleigh will be really easy to beat!

Durham Board of Elections Encourages Citizens to Vote Early in Municipal Election 2013


Early Voting Ends November 2




Durham, NC -  October 18, 2013 -  Early voting for the 2013 Municipal Election began yesterday and will end on Saturday, November 2, 2013. Residents ready to cast their votes in the election can opt for early voting or prepare for Election Day on Tuesday, November 5. The municipal election will include voting for the City of Durham Mayor and Durham City Council Ward 1, 2 and 3.  
 
On Election Day, all City of Durham precincts will be open from 6:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. Precinct 26 located in Rougemont will not be open. 
The Durham BOE encourages citizens to consider early voting options. During early voting voters can also update their registration information. Early voting will be available at Board of Elections Office, located at 706 W. Corporation Street, from today until the end of the election period: 
 

October 17-18

9 a.m. - 5 p.m. 

October 19-20

Closed 

October 21-25

9 a.m. - 5 p.m. 

October 26

9 a.m. - 2 p.m. 

October 27

Closed

October 28-November 1

9 a.m. - 5p.m.  

November 2

9 a.m. - 1 p.m. 

 
Same day registration is an option for voters during the early voting period but not available on Election Day. Additionally, citizens at least 17 years old that will be 18 on or before November 5can vote during the municipal election. 
 
A sample of the municipal election ballot is available on the Durham County BOE website at www.dconc.gov/elect.  Hard copies of the ballot are located at the Durham County BOE headquarters.
