Public Meetings Offer Update on Light Rail in the Triangle
Triangle Transit is now incorporating more public feedback into its plans for the future of light rail in the Triangle. Durham residents had a chance to receive updates on the proposed Orange-Durham Corridor at three recent public meetings held on November 12, 13, and 14. For those who weren't able to attend the meetings, Triangle Transit Planning & Transit-Oriented Development Manager Patrick McDonough explains how the projects are shaping up.

Significant Downtown Waterline Project Underway This Spring
A significant waterline replacement and water meter upgrade project will get underway in downtown this spring. The work will include replacing approximately 12,000 feet of waterlines within the downtown loop and upgrading 25 water meter boxes. The project is expected to have a number of impacts on pedestrians and traffic, including multiple road and lane closures, work taking place predominantly in existing roadways and in sidewalk areas, and traffic control and/or signed detours. The first phase of construction is set to begin in April 2014.

Durham Youth Summit Offers Teens a Glimpse of Future Opportunities
Teens from across Durham are now more aware of many of the options available to them when it comes to higher education, employment, and community support services. The Durham Youth Summit was held on November 11 at the Holton Career and Resource Center. Youth Program Employment Coordinator James Dickens with the City's Office of Economic and Workforce Development explains how the event helped show Durham's youth some of the opportunities available to them in the future.

Planning Department Considers Holloway Street Local Historic District Expansion
The Durham City-County Planning Department is considering a proposal to expand the Holloway Street Local Historic District.
