Youngblood to Head City Human Resources Department

DURHAM, N.C.-Regina Youngblood has been named director of the City of Durham's Human Resources Department by City Manager Thomas J. Bonfield.

Prior to joining the City, Youngblood was the deputy director for Operations and the chief operating officer for the District of Columbia Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services; deputy chief for the Office of Human Resources Human Capital Division of the District of Columbia Public Schools; and the director of the Employee Service Center for the Human Development Division with the Dallas Independent School District.

"Regina brings a strong Human Resources management background that will benefit the City at this time," Bonfield said. "Her experience in performance management and strategic alignment, all with a customer focus, will help propel the City forward as we meet new challenges facing the City in providing services to residents."

Youngblood received her master of arts in Economics from the University of Texas at Arlington and her bachelor of science in Economics from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. Youngblood has also received her Professional Human Resource certification from Human Resource International in addition to being certified in Process Management from the University of Texas-Austin, and certified in Project Management from the University of Texas-Arlington.

Youngblood will join the City on January 13, 2014. She replaces former Director Alethea Bell, who retired earlier this year.
