Durham Hosts City Parking Lots & Structures Urban Design Studio January 9

Input Sought on Creating a Vision for Public Parking Lot Redevelopment

DURHAM, N.C. - Anyone with an opinion on the redevelopment of two City parking lots along Morgan Street as well as design options for future City parking structures should mark their calendar now to attend an Urban Design Studio next month.

A public meeting is set for Thursday, January 9, 2014 beginning at 6 p.m. in The Temple Building, located at 302 West Main St. Hosted by the Durham City-County Planning Department, this studio will provide an opportunity for public input in creating a vision for redevelopment of the public parking lots along the south side of Morgan Street between Mangum Street and Holland Street, and defining important design and functional characteristics for possible future parking structures at those sites.

Participants and downtown stakeholders will be asked to identify and prioritize goals for redevelopment, with the results then being used to create a plan for new parking structures on one or both of these sites.

For more information on the Urban Design Series, visit http://bit.ly/O14Fcj or contact Sara Young, AICP, with the Durham City-County Planning Department, at (919) 560-4137, ext. 28256 or by email at Sara.Young at DurhamNC.gov<mailto:Sara.Young at DurhamNC.gov>.

All interested parties are welcome to attend. Any person with a disability may receive an auxiliary aid or service to effectively participate in this event by contacting the City's ADA Coordinator at (919) 560-4197 or by email to ADA at DurhamNC.gov<mailto:ADA at DurhamNC.gov>, as soon as possible, but no later than 48 hours before the meeting.
