New City Hall This Week Begins March 28

City Hall This Week will debut a new show tonight at 8 p.m. on Durham Television Network (Time Warner Cable channel 8 or 97-5 and AT&T U-verse channel 99), and on demand at http://www.YouTube.com/CityofDurhamNC.

Mayor Launches Anti-Poverty Initiative
City and community leaders are joining with people in poverty and the organizations that serve them in developing a plan to reduce poverty in Durham. Mayor William V. "Bill" Bell held a breakfast meeting on March 19 to begin mapping out how to meet that challenge. The new initiative is in response to his call for action during the State of the City address for Durham to reduce poverty "neighborhood-by-neighborhood, year-by-year starting in 2014."

Portion of Clermont Road Closed
A portion of Clermont Road is now temporarily closed due to a stormwater drainage pipe replacement project. As a result, the section of Clermont Road between Pelham and Newhall roads will be closed until April 15.

Recycling Correctly to Pay Off for Durham Residents
>From now until June 30, staff with the City's Solid Waste Management Department will be randomly checking curbside recycling carts throughout Durham and identifying Star Recycler households. Selected households will then be entered into a drawing to win one of nine $25 Visa gift cards.

Durham Receives Tree City USA Designation for 31st Year
The City is marking another milestone when it comes to its efforts to be good stewards of the environment. For the 31st year, Durham has received the Tree City USA designation.
