Durham Closes Portion of West Main Street for Construction Project
Closure in Effect from January 27-30; Traffic Detour Provided
DURHAM, N.C. - Beginning Tuesday, January 27 through Friday, January 30, the City of Durham's Transportation Department is closing a portion of West Main Street to allow for construction work to continue on a private downtown project.
The closure, which will be on West Main Street between Market and South Corcoran streets, will begin at 9 a.m. and end at 4 p.m. on each of the four days. As a result of this project, there will be a temporary closing of this portion of West Main Street as well as the sidewalk beside the project vicinity. Traffic will be detoured using Corcoran and East Chapel Hill streets and the project contractor will provide a detour and signage for motorists and pedestrians.
The purpose of the temporary closure is to set up a crane on West Main Street to lift building materials to the roof top of 201 West Main Street. For more information regarding this project, contact Kevin Oxendine, superintendent with Bridgepoint General Contracting, at (919) 625-8567 or by email at koxendine at bridgepointnc.com<mailto:koxendine at bridgepointnc.com>.
