[Durham INC] Durham Mardi Gras: Hip Hip Hooray! One Week from Today!

Hi Durham Mardi Gras fans!

We've got a message packed with tons of information this time around - we are one week away from the Mardi Gras, and there's a lots of info to share.

The most important item is for krewes to register<http://www.durhammardigras.com/register-a-krewe/> for the parade. We are looking forward to knowing who's coming so we can finalize the parade order and staging.  The registration deadline for krewes with floats or vehicles is 5pm on February 13<x-apple-data-detectors://0>, for all others, 5pm on February 16.<x-apple-data-detectors://1>

In addition to our main stage at Motorco and other stages at the Pit-Durham, Fullsteam and the bar-Durham, two acoustic stages have been confirmed - Cocoa Cinnamon and Geer Street Garden. We are up to six stages this year, folks!

Our all-ages parade now includes a open-to-anyone street-jam on the closed off section of Rigsbee St with Paperhand Puppet Intervention, a Cirque de Vol fire artist, and root beer floats from Abita and Ben and Jerry's. Not to worry - adults will still have access to all the clubs for their choice of beverage. The parade route, opening ceremony and other details can be found here:

This year's Durham Mardi Gras royalty is Chauncey Taylor, who has chosen the title of "Quing." You may know Chauncey as the star vocalist of the Bulltown Strutters, where Chauncey's voice and smile has won the hearts of many. For his larger-than-life presence of joy, love and flair, we are pleased to honor him as the 2015 Quing of Durham Mardi Gras, a title that so perfectly fits his unique style.
