City of Durham Delays Solid Waste Collections Due to Winter Weather

DURHAM, N.C. - The City of Durham is announcing the following delays and cancellations due to this week's winter weather event.

*         The City's Solid Waste Management Department has suspended solid waste, recycling, yard waste, and bulky items collections until Thursday, February 19, weather and road conditions permitting. The department plans to make up collections for Tuesday customers on Thursday and Wednesday customers on Friday. Only trash will be collected. Recycling, bulky items and yard waste collections normally scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday will be picked up on the next regularly scheduled collection day.

*         The City's Waste Disposal and Recycling Center (Transfer Station) and Household Hazardous Waste Center will open at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 19.


*         Customers who are waiting for collection should continue to leave their carts on the curb. Any questions or concerns regarding solid waste collection schedule changes should be directed to Durham One Call at (919) 560-1200.
