Durham Offers Free Bulky Brush Removal Until March 13
Fee Waived to Help Residents Clean Up from Last Week's Snow Storm

DURHAM, N.C. - Last week's winter storm brought more than heavy snow, treacherous driving conditions and wide-spread power outages. It also brought a considerable amount of downed trees, limbs and other debris to yards across the city.

To help city residents clean up this storm debris, the City of Durham Solid Waste Management Department is offering free curbside pick-up for bulky brush debris until Friday, March 13. Residents are asked to place up to three cubic yards of brush, which is just over three roll-out carts in size, neatly on their curb on their normal garbage collection day.

If residents have more than three cubic feet of bulky brush debris, they are asked to contact Durham One Call at (919) 560-1200 before March 13 to arrange for a special collection. After March 13, bulky brush debris collection will revert back to being an on-call service with applicable fees.

The City's yard waste customers will not have this free collection count toward their two free annual collections of bulky brush debris. For more information on the City's yard waste collection service, visit http://durhamnc.gov/ich/op/swmd/Pages/yard2.aspx.

Residents can also bring their bulky brush debris to the City's Waste Disposal and Recycling Center (Transfer Station), located 2115 E. Club Blvd., where fees will be waived for non-commercial customers until noon on Saturday, March 14. City residents may also bring their trash and recycling to the Center at no cost until Friday, March 6.

Residents with any additional questions about these services should contact Durham One Call at (919) 560-1200.
