City Council Adopts 2015-16 Budget Development Guidelines
The City's administration now has a clear set of guidelines to lead the development of the 2015-2016 fiscal year budget. The guidelines were adopted by the City Council during its meeting on April 6. Among the items the administration will consider is a property tax increase of up to one cent per $100 of assessed value to hire more firefighters and police officers.

Durham to Observe National Crime Victims' Rights Week
National Crime Victims' Rights Week will be observed in Durham from April 19-25, and the Durham Police Department is hosting several events to remember, honor and empower victims. Find out more about the activities that will be taking place throughout the week.

Earth Day Festival Set for April 19
Durham's annual Earth Day Festival will be held on Sunday, April 19 from noon to 5 p.m. at Rock Quarry Park. The festival will feature an earth art market, sustainability expo, a Kids' Zone, live music and an earth day parade. Attendees can also recycle old electronics and donate gently used books.
