City Weighs Public Input on Design of New Police Headquarters Complex
The public comment period is now open for input on the design of the new police headquarters complex, which will be located on East Main Street. A community visioning session was held on April 16 for all stakeholders to offer input. The City will accept public comments and input on the headquarters' design through May 1.
G.R.E.A.T. Summer Camps Accepting Applications
The Durham Police Department's Gang Resistance Education and Training (G.R.E.A.T.) Unit is now accepting applications for this year's summer camps. Campers between the ages of 11-14 will learn about law enforcement, the courts and the penal system. Applications for the three week-long sessions are available now.
Durham Residents Encouraged to Sign Up for National Mayor's Challenge for Water Conservation
The City of Durham is asking for the help of residents in showing that it is the most water-wise city in the nation. The National Mayor's Challenge for Water Conservation is a competition between cities across the country to see who can be the most water-wise. Through the competition, residents can help Durham take home the title, save water, save money and earn prizes.
Durham Youth Commission Now Accepting Applications for Next Year
The Durham Youth Commission is now accepting applications. The commission, made up of 30 members in grades 9-12, must commit to a one-year term while serving on City boards and committees, completing 20 hours of community service, and participating in service projects. Applications must be postmarked by April 30.
