[Durham INC] Volunteers needed for Geer Cemetery Cleanup Saturday June 6, 2-4 pm

Volunteers Needed - All ages welcome
Saturday June 6, 2015 - Geer Cemetery Beautification
2-4 pm at Geer Cemetery (800 Colonial Street, park on McGill Place)

Geer Cemetery is a tranquil 4-acre wooded, abandoned Cemetery in East Durham and the resting place of many of the earliest generations of African Americans in Durham. The cemetery, with no ownership or claim is in desperate need of some TLC. Friends of Geer Cemetery (a public group of volunteers - http://apdew.com/FOGC/) formed to uncover the interesting history and help take care of and advocate for this beautiful, rustic and historic public space in Durham. Join Keep Durham Beautiful and volunteer athletes from CrossFit Renowned (www.crossfitrenowned.com<http://www.crossfitrenowned.com>) as we help clean up the cemetery. We will be moving fallen limbs and logs (firewood anyone?), picking up litter, pruning vines, weeding the entrance sign, and righting fallen headstones.
