DCHC MPO Seeks Public Comments on Transportation Priorities
July 31 Deadline to Provide Feedback
DURHAM, N.C. - The Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro Metropolitan Planning Organization (DCHC MPO)<http://www.dchcmpo.org> is seeking public feedback on a series of long-range plans for transportation projects in this area.
Residents and stakeholders can now review and provide input on the draft FY2016-2025 Metropolitan Transportation Improvement Program<http://www.dchcmpo.org/programs/improvement/2025tip/default.asp> (MTIP), the draft Air Quality Conformity Determination Report<http://www.dchcmpo.org/programs/improvement/conformity/default.asp> (CDR), and a draft amendment to the 2040 Metropolitan Transportation Plan<http://www.dchcmpo.org/programs/transport/2040.asp> (MTP). These plans include future proposed projects on U.S. Highway 15/501, Interstate 40, N.C. Highway 147, N.C. Highway 54, and many other major roads in Durham, Orange, and Chatham counties.
In addition to seeking public feedback on the draft FY2016-2025 MTIP<http://www.dchcmpo.org/programs/improvement/2025tip/default.asp>, the DCHC MPO is seeking input on two additional documents concerning air quality and long-range planning. Federal regulations now require the completion of an Air Quality CDR<http://www.dchcmpo.org/programs/improvement/conformity/default.asp>, which was created in parallel with the FY2016-2025 MTIP<http://www.dchcmpo.org/programs/improvement/2025tip/default.asp>. The draft CDR provides information about the region's air quality thresholds and compliance with federal and state regulations. Because the FY2016-2025 MTIP<http://www.dchcmpo.org/programs/improvement/2025tip/default.asp> must correspond with the 2040 MTP<http://www.dchcmpo.org/programs/transport/2040.asp>, it must also be amended to include these new projects.
To review the various documents, visit the DCHC MPO website<http://www.dchcmpo.org/programs/improvement/default.asp>. Feedback should be sent by Friday, July 31 to the DCHC MPO at 101 City Hall Plaza, Durham, N.C. 27701 or by email<mailto:Felix.Nwoko at durhamnc.gov>. For more information about the public comment process, contact DCHC MPO Transportation Planning Manager Felix Nwoko by email<mailto:Felix.Nwoko at durhamnc.gov> or at (919) 560-4366, ext. 36424.
Stakeholders and residents are also encouraged to like the DCHC MPO Facebook<https://www.facebook.com/MPOforDCHC> page and follow the DCHC MPO Twitter<https://twitter.com/DCHCMPO> feed to stay up-to-date on news about transportation planning efforts for Durham, Orange, and Chatham counties.
