I don't know how the protection on streams and wetlands will affect protection some were hoping for on stormwater coming down from developments above them.
If you choose to do the "contact the legislator," you should probably substitute a thank you to our delegation for how much they try to make things better.

Regards, pat

Dear
Patricia,

Earlier today a committee in the NC Senate converted a single provision bill concerning restrictions on trucks transporting rocks and gravel into a 50 page bill that attacks important water quality and environmental protections.

Click here to contact your state Senator now!

The bill is H 765, and here’s a list of just a few things it would do if it’s passed:

allow polluters to self-report environmental violations and avoid penalties;
require DENR to remove some of our state’s air quality monitors;
reduce protections for wetlands and streams; and,
weaken the integrity of our riparian buffer water quality protections.

But it’s not too late. The bill requires approval by the Senate. Be sure that your state senator hears your voice!

Thanks for all that you do.

Dustin Chicurel-Bayard

Communications Director, NC Sierra Club

P.S. - Please take a minute or two to let your state Senator know that you don’t want to see the environmental protection rollbacks in H 765!
