In the interest of full disclosure, I felt I should inform that I am an associate director on the board of Durham’s SWCD (volunteer, unpaid, SWCD-board appointed position).
I agreed to be an associate director only after I was fully assured that it would not prohibit/pre-empt me from speaking out, independently, as a concerned Durham and World citizen, which is the manner in which my last email was intended.
Sincerely,
Melissa (Rooney)

>> Hi all. I was reviewing some info for a project and, given Durham neighborhoods' (and city/county) stormwater concerns over the last year, I thought I’d pass on the link below to consider with regard to residential landscaping and avoidance of problems with future heavy rains.

>> The article contains perennial, environmentally sustainable, labor-reducing, aesthetically pleasing and easily affordable solutions for residential homeowners.
>>
>> Much of the info/advice comes from Mike Dupree (with Durham's Soil and Water Conservation District), with whom many neighbors (in my neighborhood and throughout Durham) are already working this year:

>> If you’d like Mike (SWCD) to come out and have a look at your property and offer their expert suggestions regarding your stormwater issues, including whether you may qualify for available cost-sharing programs, the contact info is also below.

>> The SWCD runs out of cost-share funds every year, though there are many Durham residents who continue to request them in order to remedy their own stormwater problems and, collectively, those of Durham at large.
