Federal ConnectHome Initiative to Bring Free High-Speed Internet Access to Public Housing Residents
The federal government's ConnectHome initiative is bringing free, high-speed Internet access to public housing residents in Durham. The initiative will provide approximately 2,000 households with access to Google Fiber. HUD Secretary Julian Castro explains why the initiative is being launched.

Adult and Dislocated Workers Continue to Benefit From Educational Data Systems, Inc.
Adult and dislocated workers trying to hone their skills for a new job will continue to benefit from the services offered by Educational Data Systems, Inc. The City extended its contract by $621,000 to help connect workers with on-the-job training and work experience opportunities.


City Renews Contract With DDI
Downtown Durham, Inc. (DDI) will provide downtown economic development and marketing services for another year. The organization will be paid $160,000 to provide services such as recruiting investors, businesses, and residents as well as helping those who want to invest, lease or purchase space by providing information and tours.
