Changes to Southside Plans Reflect City's Commitment to Supporting Thriving, Livable Neighborhoods
Changes are continuing to be made to the Southside Revitalization project to make sure it reflects the City's commitment to supporting thriving, livable neighborhoods. The latest round is in response to needs that are becoming evident through the construction of homes in phase one of Southside West. Find out what those changes are and why they're needed.

Much-Needed Sidewalk Project to Become Reality
The funding is now in place for a much-needed sidewalk project to become reality. The City has received $182,000 in federal funds for the construction of sidewalks on Highway 751 between Garrett Road and Highway 54, and on Highway 54 between Highway 751 and Dresden Drive. Construction is expected to be begin the spring 2017 and be completed in spring 2018.

Museum of Durham History to Continue to Operate In Former Downtown Bus Transfer Station
The Museum of Durham History will continue to operate an exhibit space and education center at the former downtown Durham bus transfer station. The museum has been located at the former station for the past three years. A new three-year lease agreement has been reached, so residents and visitors will continue to be able to read and view stories about Durham's history.


Durham Celebrates Another Successful National Night Out Against Crime
Residents and neighborhoods throughout Durham are celebrating another successful National Night Out Against Crime. City leaders joined more than 100 communities in events marking the national observance on Tuesday, August 4. National Night Out is held each year to give neighborhoods a chance to promote police/community partnerships in preventing crime as well as neighborhood unity.
