Here is what had accumulated in INC mailbox in August:
To City Council on September 8:US 70 Self-Storage -- They are changing the development plan for area that stays Light Industrial. It is along NC 70 near Leesville and the end of Page Road.Garrett Ridge Multifamily -- the notice seems to be cut and pasted from the above announcement, but I think they mean a change to add more multifamily to an area that had some multi-family and some not-too-dense single family on Garrett north of the Old Chapel Hill Road. It backs onto the New Hope Creek Corridor so their protection of water would be an issue.
Notices of neighborhood meetings:August 25 proposal for a large mixed use development at southeast Guess and Latta -- I think there was story on the opposition in the neighborhood to the ideaAugust 18 about a tiny piece on Misty Pine Ave, where they want to build a stormwater area connected to a climate-controlled, multi-story, high-qualtiy self-storage facility on North Roxboro on the opposite side of where Old Oxford comes in (more or less).
Miscellaneous notices and meetings:A new wireless communications facility at 2919 Fayetteville -- behind Fayetteville Street SchoolMajor Use Permit to construct a community well and wastewater facility (and probably gouge customers like all the other private water providers?) in RR area at North Roxboro and Orange Factory. I assume it will serve a conservation subdivision that will have 143 single family lots and 2 farm residences on 287.7 acres (August 10, Board of County Commissioners meeting)Renaming parts of Ridgeway Road in Celeste Circle area off NC 54.August 25 meeting on the Erwin Road Compact Neighborhood (not sure if this is just the last one in the series that did other areas earlier this summer)
Minor special uses at Board of Adjustment on August 25:Expanding a non-conforming accessory structure on MonmouthFor a rooming house at 510 Holloway
August 11 at Planning Commission (first several will likely be at BOCC in September):Davis Park West Revision -- changing the development plan for big commercial at northwest corner of Davis and HopsonPark Center -- changing the commercial area around the old Radisson in RTP to the new science center zoningSW Durham Drive -- From not-to-dense residential to big commercial (I think I heard car dealership) at the entrance to Durham on SE corner of 15-501 and SW Durham Drive -- the woods just past Patterson Place as you go toward Durham.Hanover Pointe Sub Area A -- Revising the PDR on East Horseshoe Road, off Mineral Springs RoadGarrett Ridge Multifamily -- (see City Council above)US 70 Self-Storage -- They are changing the development plan for area that stays Light Industrial. It is along NC 70 near Leesville and the end of Page Road. (same as the City Council case above)Revisions to the Comprehensive Plan to address issues about RTP park (August 11

Subject: [Durham INC] Zoning, Board of Adjustment, etc. notifications
Here was had accumulated in the INC mailbox.
To go to City Council on August 3:Change of 2512 Vesson Avenue (west of Anderson) -- to a different kind of residential that will fit whatever they want to put there?Bergen Road from biggish lot residential to PDR (it's where Belgreen turns into Silver Star)
A demolition by neglect notice for 603 Holloway (July 9) -- some folks may want to see if what happened applies in their neighborhood
The Planning Commission heard in July heard about the "Cornwallis Property" at Cornwallis and NC15-501, for making the Granville Circle area into a PDR.
Just so you know what the Board of Adjustment has had to deal with in May, June and July: variances to let buildings intrude into mandated side and front yards (4), place of worship in residential zone (2), expanding commercial zone in residential zone, educational facility in residential zone, reducing parking by more than 20% (3) one of which needed a variance on "stacking" (cars waiting to get in), having a satellite dish greater than 1 meter, expanding a non-conforming structure (1,1,, one of which does not have the required street yard setback)
Notices that someone is going to ask for a rezoningTriangle Business Center (4062 Stirrup Creek and 1650 Alexander) -- from a mixture of big commercial and office to industrial. They want to be able to do warehouses, but this would allow much more (June)Westpoint (Aldi) at 751 -- to get flexibility to do another office instead of a hotel (June)709 Hanson Ave -- No details (July)Park Center -- A new zoning type to allow residential, office, research, dining, hotel in a redevelopment of the old complex of offices and hotel and banks at NC54 and Davis Drive. It would have buildings pushed closer to the road. Doc Nichols Road -- Single family residential (May)Leesville and Andrews Chapel Road -- No details (June)HWY 55 and TW Alexander -- No details (June)Carpenter Fletcher and NWY 55 -- An update from the October 2014 meeting indicating that they are only going to ask for to re-zone part of the property, but they will probably take back the proposed dedication to right of way now that they don't need to worry about protest petitions. The bigger issue will probably be that the property is a little bit of dry land in the middle of wetland (June)Paramont Pest Control -- NC 55 just south of Sedgwick (June)Harris Teeter Shopping Center at NC54 and NC751 -- rezoning (is it pretty wet back there?) behind the apartment complex/little houses on 751
June City Council matters:Parkway Plaza II -- add development plan to where K Mart was on University Drive More Brier Creek Assemblage -- zoning and future land use changeCircle K at Duke and Frasier from Office Institutional to Mixed UseA self-storage center on Hopson, near NC54, Office to commercial zoning change, and future land use plan changeExpansion of the parking for complex on NW corner of NC54 and Farrington into the adjacent residential (majorly upsetting to neighborhood, based on what they were saying at the compact neighborhood meetings)A lot between N. Magnum and Glendale, north of Corporation, from a mix of medium commercial and single and multi-family residential to smaller scale commercial and multi-family residential
