More Affordable Rental Homes Coming to Southside
Affordable rental homes will soon be available in the revitalized Southside neighborhood for low-to-moderate income families and individuals. An open house was held to showcase the homes, owned by Durham Community Land Trustees<http://www.dclt.org/news.cfm>, as part of the East Piedmont Avenue Renovation Project.

Durham's Tax Collection Rate Improves
Durham's tax collection rate is continuing to improve. The annual tax settlement report<http://www.durhamnc.gov/agendas_new/2015/cws20150921/10666_PRESENTATION_TAX_SETTLEMENT_FY2015_376655_657628.PDF> from the Durham County Tax Administration Office shows that the 99.6 percent collection rate is why Durham has the third highest collection rate in the state.

Durham Police Chief Retires
Police Chief Jose Lopez, Sr. will be retiring at the end of the year. City Manager Tom Bonfield announced in a statement<http://durhamnc.gov/DocumentCenter/View/6691> that he and Chief Lopez reached an agreement for Chief Lopez to retire effective December 31, 2015.
