Durham Seeks Organizations for Emergency Solutions Grant Funds
Durham Continuum of Care Memberships Sought

DURHAM, N.C. - The City of Durham Community Development Department is seeking organizations to apply for $156,024 in Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) funds.

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services recently informed the department that the Durham Continuum of Care was eligible to apply for up to $93,614 to fund operating costs of emergency shelters and at least $62,410 to rapidly re-house people who are currently homeless. Eligible applicants must be private nonprofit organizations or units of local government.

Project applications for these ESG funds are due to the City's Community Development Department by 4 p.m. on Friday, October 16, 2015. Application instructions, project application, and supporting documentation are available on the Durham Continuum of Care website<http://www.durhamopeningdoors.org/?page_id=2435>.

The City's Community Development Department is also seeking organizations and individuals committed to participating in community-wide efforts to address homelessness to join the Durham Continuum of Care. The Durham Continuum of Care is composed of representatives from organizations including nonprofit homeless providers, victim service providers, faith-based organizations, governments, businesses, advocates, public housing agencies, school districts, social service providers, mental health agencies, hospitals, universities, affordable housing developers, law enforcement, organizations that serve homeless and formerly homeless veterans, and homeless and formerly homeless people.

The Durham Continuum of Care is organized to coordinate local efforts to address housing and homeless issues and to reduce homelessness. Membership is available at no charge.
