Community Feedback Considered as Part of Police Chief Search Process
City leaders and the agency conducting the police chief search process are now considering community feedback on what to look for in the ideal candidate. Residents and other stakeholders took part in two community forums<http://nc-durham.civicplus.com/DocumentCenter/View/8072> held on December 14 and 15. City Leaders Gain Insight Into Affordable Housing Needs in Durham
The City now has a more clear idea of the affordable housing needs in Durham. The City Council received a presentation<http://www.durhamnc.gov/agendas_new/2015/cws20151221/10833_PRESENTATION_ENTERPRISE_PRESENTATION_381541_671480.PDF> on the issue from Enterprise Community Partners during its December 10 work session. Vice President Karen Lado explains what their assessment found and how those findings will lead to the development of five-year affordable housing goals and a long-term strategy to meet them.
New Marquees Unveiled at Durham Performing Arts Center
The Durham Performing Arts Center (DPAC)<http://www.dpacnc.com/> has two new marquees that will display current and upcoming events. A ceremony<http://durhamnc.gov/DocumentCenter/View/8262> to unveil the marquees was held on December 17. Including the marquees, the City has made $1.4 million in improvements to the DPAC this year.
Durham Parks and Recreation to Hold New Year, New You Program
Durham Parks and Recreation will be holding its New Year, New You<http://durhamnc.gov/DocumentCenter/View/8110> program January 4-10 to allow residents to enjoy free fitness activities throughout the week. Participants can take part in land and water aerobics, martial arts, open gym and swim, dance classes, racquet sports and more.
