Durham Police Department Asks for Input on Draft Body Camera Policy

Police Department, City Leaders Study Violence Reduction Strategies in Boston and Kansas City
The Durham Police Department, City leaders, and community partners are working to identify ways to implement new gun violence reduction strategies in Durham. Those strategies are based on what delegates from Durham learned as part of recent trips to Boston and Kansas City. Durham-Chapel Hill Metropolitan Area Better Able to Offer Housing Support for People With AIDS
Durham, Chapel Hill, and the surrounding areas are now better able to offer housing support<http://www.durhamnc.gov/agendas_new/2015/cma20151221/10754_MEMO_HOPWA_CONTRACT_W-DUKE_UNI_378983_670869.PDF> for people living with AIDS. A Duke University School of Medicine program will provide services on behalf of the area using federal funds to offer short-term mortgage, rent and utility payments to prevent homelessness.
City and County Working Together to Determine Future of 134 Acres Along Southview Road
The City and Durham County are working together<http://www.durhamnc.gov/agendas_new/2015/cma20151221/10830_MEMO_SOUTHVIEW_INTERLOCAL_WITH_380860_671283.PDF> to determine the future of 134 acres along Southview Road. The property will help to protect nutrient-sensitive tributaries within the Falls Lake Watershed. The County will use 104 acres for low-impact recreational use and the City will use the remaining 30 acres for a future park.
