Final Phase of Commercial Water Meter Replacement Program Set to Get Underway
The third and final phase of the City's commercial water meter replacement program<http://www.durhamnc.gov/agendas_new/2016/cma20160104/10855_MEMO_COMMERCIAL_METER_REPLACEM_381617_671946.PDF> is about to get underway. The $2.1 million project includes upgrading approximately 300 manual-read commercial water meters to remote-read meters.

City Takes Creative Approach Toward Making More Affordable Housing Available in East Durham
The City is taking a creative approach toward making more affordable housing available in East Durham. Two properties<http://www.durhamnc.gov/agendas_new/2016/cma20160104/10857_MEMO_HABITAT_AFFORDABLE_HOUSIN_381622_673815.PDF> located on Owen Street will be sold to Habitat for Humanity of Durham<http://www.durhamhabitat.org/> in exchange for the civil penalties and liens owed by the property owner being reduced and waived.


Partnership Between City and Schools Exposes Students to Professionals in Engineering Careers
A partnership between the City's Public Works Department<http://durhamnc.gov/506/Public-Works> and Durham Public Schools is exposing high school students to professionals in various careers. A lunch-and-learn was held in mid-December for students from the Southern School of Energy and Sustainability<http://southern.dpsnc.net/pages/Southern_High> to allow them to showcase their engineering-related projects to engineering employees from several City departments.
