City Leaders Consider Draft Guidelines for Possible Downtown Rental Subsidy Program
City leaders are now considering draft guidelines developed for a possible Downtown Rental Subsidy Program<http://www.durhamnc.gov/agendas_new/2016/cws20160215/10916_PRESENTATION_DOWNTOWN_RENTAL_SUBSIDY_P_383364_676303.PDF>. The program would target low-income households between 60-80 percent of the area median income. Enterprise Community Partners Vice President Karen Lado explains how the program would work.

Mayor's Poverty Reduction Initiative Jobs Taskforce Reports Progress
The Jobs Taskforce of the Mayor's Poverty Reduction Initiative is reporting progress in its efforts to reduce poverty in Northeast Central Durham. Included among those efforts are a new flyer<http://www.durhamnc.gov/agendas_new/2016/cws20160215/10868_EXHIBIT_GOTRANSIT_FLYER_383909_677391.pdf> about various transportation options as well as the designation of the Holton Career and Resource Center as an official NCWorks Satellite Site. The taskforce also developed a PSA to promote positive employer experiences in hiring employees with criminal backgrounds.

Budget Development Process Moves Forward
The City's budget development process<http://durhamnc.gov/204/Budget-Development-Process> is moving forward. City Council members received presentations on the administration's proposed budget development guidelines, Strategic Plan updates, Capital Improvement Program, Parking, and Public Safety Pay Plans during its February 26 retreat.


Work Continues on New Fee Structure Development for Underground Utility Permit Program
The City is continuing its work to develop a new fee structure for the underground utility permit program<http://www.durhamnc.gov/agendas_new/2016/cws20160215/10948_PRESENTATION_UNDERGROUND_UTILITY_PERMI_383913_677397.PDF>. The fees compensate the City for the review, permitting, and installation inspections of underground utilities.
