Great story in the Indy regarding the push for sustainability in Durham Public Schools.

I do hope this becomes an initiative throughout Durham county as well as in DPS and the city of Durham and that it results in real installations in real time and not just in accolades on paper ;-)
And cheers to Kevin Davis and Alex Modesto for their thorough review of DPS financials: http://www.newsobserver.com/news/local/community/durham-news/dn-opinion/article62424672.html <http://www.newsobserver.com/news/local/community/durham-news/dn-opinion/article62424672.html> and http://www.bullcityrising.com/2016/01/scrutinizing-our-schools-dps-student-achievement-lags-most-nc-districts.html <http://www.bullcityrising.com/2016/01/scrutinizing-our-schools-dps-student-achievement-lags-most-nc-districts.html>. I think the County should insist on an independent business consultant to investigate the numbers and the work load and culture within DPS and recommend central admin positions that should be cut…we’ve been harping about DPS's unnecessary and ineffective top-heavyness for decades, perhaps it is finally time to do something about it. I’m interested in others' thoughts on this.
Thanks for your support!
Sincerely,
Melissa (Rooney)
