Durham Hosts 2016 Golden Leaf Awards April 14
Free Event Open to the Public; Voting for People's Choice Award Ends April 1

DURHAM, N.C. - Who will walk away with the prestigious Golden Leaf award for their Durham property voted to be the best in their category? Mark your calendar now to find out at the 2016 Golden Leaf Awards Reception and Ceremony<http://www.durhamgoldenleaf.com/>.

This year's event is set for Thursday, April 14 beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Durham County Government Administrative Complex Commissioners' Chambers, 200 E. Main St., Durham. The event is free, open to the public, and Durham residents are encouraged to attend.

Hosted by Durham City-County Appearance Commission, Keep Durham Beautiful, and the Durham City-County Environmental Affairs Board, the event will recognize properties that provide positive attributes to the built environment. Homeowners, building owners, architects, landscape architects, developers, realtors and anyone involved in design, planning, and construction in Durham have entered projects completed within the last five years for this year's competition.

Residents are also encouraged to visit the 2016 Golden Leaf Awards website<http://www.durhamgoldenleaf.com/> by Friday, April 1 to review all of the nominated properties and cast their vote for their favorite project for the People's Choice Award<http://www.durhamgoldenleaf.com/Categories.html>.

About the Durham City-County Environmental Affairs Board

The City of Durham<http://durhamnc.gov/1323/City-Council> and Durham County<http://dconc.gov/government/departments-a-e/board-of-commissioners> jointly established the Environmental Affairs Board<http://durhamnc.gov/1368/Environmental-Affairs-Board-EAB> (EAB) in 1991, in recognition of the importance of local cooperation on environmental issues. The EAB is an advisory board of appointed volunteer citizens to provide the City and County with expert and comprehensive advice on various environmental matters.
