[Durham INC] Who do you trust on development?

Good Morning Durham

Tonight at 7PM at City Hall there will be the continuance of the Pulte project adjacent to Colony Park.  What is being asked of us tonight is to trust Pulte a national home builder based out of state, who has told our neighborhoods that profit is their concern, to do the right thing.  Their plan under Durham's code is a Planned Development Residence(PRD).  There are few committed elements in the plan.  Once the zoning is approved they can build as they please as long as they don’t violate the Unified Development Ordinance(UDO).  When asked by our neighborhood to make adjustments in their plan we have been told no, we can not do that it don’t fit our business plan or we will commit to things that the City Council makes us do.   The question is do you trust them?
I trust our City Council to do the right thing tonight and I urge you all to come out and support our neighborhoods and our City Council.
