Most City of Durham Offices Closed for Labor Day
Durham Residents Are Asked to Take Note of Changes in Multiple City Services

DURHAM, N.C. - Most City of Durham offices will be closed Monday, September 5, 2016, in observance of Labor Day. The City will operate under normal business hours on Tuesday, September 6. Police, fire, and rescue services for life-threatening or in-progress emergencies may be reached by calling 9-1-1. Non-emergency problems or concerns may be directed to (919) 560-4600.

The regularly scheduled City Council Meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 6 at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers, located on the first floor of City Hall, 101 City Hall Plaza. The meeting will also be livestreamed from the City's website<http://durham.granicus.com/ViewPublisher.php?view_id=2> and televised live on Durham Television Network<http://durhamnc.gov/1104/Durham-Television-Network>. Residents are asked to take note of the following changes in other City services and programs.

Solid Waste, Recycling, Yard Waste, and Bulky Item Curbside Collections
The Solid Waste Management Department<http://durhamnc.gov/832/Solid-Waste-Management> will be closed on Monday, September 5. Collection for all services, including solid waste, recycling, yard waste and bulky items, will be delayed by one business day<http://durhamnc.gov/DocumentCenter/View/8584> for the entire week. Collections for yard waste and bulky items on Friday, September 9 will instead occur on Monday, September 12. The Waste Disposal & Recycling Center, Yard Waste Facility, and the Household Hazardous Waste Center<http://nc-durham.civicplus.com/898/Disposal-Facilities> will be closed on Monday, September 5 and will reopen under normal operating schedules on Tuesday, September 6.


Durham Parks and Recreation
Durham Parks and Recreation<http://durhamnc.gov/753/Parks-Recreation> will close its administrative office and all recreation centers on Monday, September 5. Recreation centers will operate under normal schedules on Saturday, September 3 and Sunday, September 4. City lakes will be open regular hours Friday through Monday. The administrative office and recreation centers will reopen under normal schedules on Tuesday, September 6. Residents may complete an online service request<http://nc-durham.civicplus.com/FormCenter/City-Managers-Office-15/Durham-One-Call-Online-Request-Form-64> or leave a message at (919) 560-1200. Durham One Call will forward all requests for City services to the appropriate department on the next business day. For information about the City's holiday schedule and any other services that may be affected, contact Durham One Call at (919) 560-1200 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
